About Food Shui

"Asian Food Fast" is their slogan. They serve various bowls--rice bowls, vermicelli bowls, soup bowls, etc.

Suggested by Marc Stephenson--thanks!

Finally made it out here. Worth a visit. Their slogan is "Asian Food Fast," and they live up to it. You order at the counter, get your beverage at the drink station, have a seat in the rather spartan interior, and your food is out in minutes (as in one or two minutes). Their mainstay seems to be rice bowls. You choose the bowl, and then choose the meat (chicken, shrimp or beef, or tofu). I had the Kung Pao bowl with chicken. It came out piping hot. Was delicious--just the right amount of spice. The rice bowls come with a "summer roll," (aka spring roll), which was also very tasty--crispy and flakey. Overall, a nice experience.

My only complaint is that the bowls are too big! I could barely finish mine, and should have taken some home. Their menu notes that "each entree is served in a microwaveable bowl," so it's easy to take your leftovers home. Would be nice to have a smaller bowl option for a few dollars less though. The rice bowls (11 varieties) with chicken are all $6.75.

The food here is pretty good, but the service is pretty awful. You MST check all deliveries before the person walks away, because it'll be wrong 3 out of 5 times. They are sometimes rude. But if you dine it, it is usually pretty good and is made very fasst. Portions are a bit smaller than they used to be.

Overall, overpriced for that they give you, but a good alternative to other fast foods.

Food Shui has the best Asian food in Austin. They use the highest quality ingredients. Everything is consistently tasty. I would recommend the Shakin' Steak bowl. Its one of my favorites. The service is always friendly and the place is so clean. Now they even serve brown rice!

Delicious!!!

I stumbled across this place when I was working in the area and make a point to visit it every time I am in Austin. The food comes out fast. The prices are great. Though I have tried many of the dishes my all time favorite is the Garlic bowl with Tofu. Many of my friends are now hooked to this restaurant. Clean nice dining experience. Friendly staff. Lots of options for those who do not eat meat. Love this place!

Very good food, but not consistent

Really good stuff, but not consistent. Not consistent across all dishes. For instance, the Thai Basil bowl rocks, but the Tangy Citrus Bowl overall is not good. Too many pieces of the orange peel and too small too. So, it is easy to start eating them instead of larger, more visable bits. Also, the shrimp was not deveined. I know that there isn't a safety issue there, but it's very unappetizing to see that. Perhaps they figure that since they are battered, no one will know that we didn't do all of the prep work on these. Lastly, the shrimp was fishy tasting which is odd since they are SHRIMP. Thank goodness for the veggies and rice in the bowl along with the egg roll otherwise I'd starve today!

:)

Fresh, crisp vegetables. Delicious jasmine rice! Everything was piping hot and fresh and it came out so fast. I had the sesame chicken bowl and it was the best sesame chicken I've ever had. I'm definitely going back there again. They serve brown rice, now, too.

Everytime I've come to Food Shui, it's been a great experience. The staff is nice and they food has always been fresh, hot, and really good. I just get Combination rice and I'm good to go. I usually eat some and bring the rest to work the next day. Be prepared b/c the food portions unless you love to eat. I think everyone should try this place at least once.....

Fresh, healthy, delicious, fast

Very impressed after two meals. Very fresh veggies, quality ingredients, good standard sauces. Ranks up with Wiki Wiki Teriyaki in the Arboretum for fast healthy food. Even though the bowls are substantial and filling they don't necessitate a nap; good healthy fuel for the day.

No MSG (they say) in Hot Sour and Egg Drop, which is rare (Pho has some MSG).

Good food and great service. I especially like the ready-to-microwave bowls -- I split my meal in half from the very beginning. The only thing I would like to see change is for them to start offering brown rice.

Delicious food, made to order in anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes. Let me reiterate, this place is FAST. The bowls have more food than a normal human being could want to eat in a single sitting. Except me. I eat a lot. Thank you Food Shui!

hooked!

My wife and I eat here all the time. There is a wide enough variety to please everyone, but honestly I have gotten the same thing every single time...that's how much I like it! Their bowls are big, yes, as one reviewer noted, but usually that makes for a great midnight snack or lunch the next day if I can't finish it at dinner...and it's always served in easy-to-wrap-up containers, so cleanup is basically a non-issue when we bring Food Shui home.

Staff is nice, service is fast, and value is good for the amount of food you get. Try it out!

Food is always fresh and hot. Location is very clean and well maintained....these are important factors in choosing a place to dine out. Prices are very reasonable. They even deliver.

They use white meat in the chicken dishes and lean beef to make their steak bowls.

Good variety and friendly service makes this place a staple in our diet.

Food Shui is a great place to get a hot meal fast. The bowls are big enough that you can make two meals of them, so $6.75 is a great price. Also, it is owned by a local couple so you are supporting the Austin economy when you eat there. They deliver for $2 or so.

This is definitely one of my staples for lunch. I LOVE the Tso bowl which you can request chicken that it not deep fried. Just the right amount of spice with a great flavor. Very clean place.

Basic Assembled Asian food.
I wish they used actual plates and utensils instead of the Plastic for everything.
I had a lemongrass hot pepper fried chicken over rice.
The meal was advertised with an included sauce that never showed, and over all the bowl was a bit on the dry side. Everything was hot and fully cooked .
I did feel ok the next day and it was clean on the inside.

overall an average spot if you live or work in the area.. no reason to road trip for this one.

Ordered the Broccoli and Chicken Rice bowl. The cost was $6.75 and that included a spring roll. The steamed rice was especially good. The chicken and the broccoli were freshly cooked and appeared to come from fresh ingredients. Service size was rather large. Service was quick as I received my food in little over 5 minutes. Recommended for those wanting some Asian-style food, freshly cooked and fast.

Food Shui is a counter-service restaurant serving rice bowls, vermicelli bowls, and pho. Prices are a bit high for counter service, but the portions are quite large (for the bowls at least). It's a nice place for a quick casual lunch. Service is always friendly, and the food is always hot.
